YESTERDAY

On the 15th of May 1855, His Imperial Majesty, Napoleon III, By the Grace of God and the National Will, Emperor of the French, in the presence of his wife, the empress Eugénie, inaugurated, in Paris, the universal exposition of produce of agriculture, industry, and fine arts. It was by virtue of the imperial decree of the 8th of March 1853, of which the first article orders « Article 1. A universal exhibition of agricultural and industrial produce shall open in Paris in the Palace of Industry, in the carré Marigny, on the 1st of May 1855, and will close on the 30th of September of the same year », that a great multitude of exhibitors occupied, from the 15th of May to the 15th of November, the Palace of Industry, of which 23 954 exhibitors in the industrial section, of whom 11,986 were French, in the presence of 5,162,330 visitors.

TODAY

On the occasion of the 160th anniversary of the inauguration of the Universal Exhibition of 1855, the Bonapartist Movement proclaims its intention to commemorate the Exhibition by giving priority, from the 15th of May to the 15th of November 2015, to agriculture, industry and commerce, and to art and culture in general, in honour of this event. We are also publishing, for our readers, the enclosed index of links to provide them further information on the story of this first grand universal exhibition of Paris, worthy successor to the great exhibitions of French industry under the Consulate and First Empire.
